Waste Management of Texas, Inc.'s Hillside Landfill (TCEQ Permit Number: MSW-523B) is a municipal solid waste landfill operating pursuant to the regulations of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The site is located on Nelson Road, southeast of the City of Sherman.

The facility is a Type I municipal solid waste landfill permitted to accept non-hazardous household, commercial, industrial, and special waste, as well as construction and demolition debris. The facility does not accept hazardous or radioactive waste.

Waste Management, the nation's largest waste services provider, operates the Hillside Landfill, serving residential, municipal, and commercial customers in Grayson, Fannin and Cooke Counties.

According to data compiled by the TCEQ, a Texas resident generates more than 7.3 pounds of solid waste every day. Given Texoma's expected population growth of over 9 percent, as well as increased expected growth of the counties around the Texoma area, the Hillside Landfill will be needed to serve these communities.
